Why Choose Zilken for Elastomer Components?

Material width

We work with the full range of technical elastomers—and expand it as needed through our supplier network: NBR, EPDM, FKM/FPM, VMQ/MVQ (silicone), SBR, natural rubber, CR, as well as FFKM, HNBR, and FEPM (Aflas®) for extreme media and temperature requirements. This is complemented by soft materials such as aramid fiber sealing material, fiber sealing materials (Klingerit-type), foam, sponge rubber, as well as glass and high-temperature fabrics and PTFE.

Approvals and Industry Compliance

For pressure equipment and media-critical applications, we provide material certificates and test reports in accordance with EN 10204 (3.1). Compatibility certificates in accordance with ISO 1817 (liquids) and ISO 1431 (ozone) are available upon request, along with supplier certification. For applications involving food contact or drinking water, we comply with FDA, KTW, and DVGW standards — as well as WRAS, 3-A Sanitary, and ACS.

Hardness Levels

Elastomers are specified by hardness. We cover the entire range from 15° to 90° Shore A—with a focus on 60°, 65°, and 70° Shore A. Tolerances of ±5 Shore are standard; all hardness levels are available upon request.

Cut-to-size pieces and custom sizes

We supply rubber sheets in thicknesses ranging from 0.9 to 50 mm, in standard sizes or cut to size according to drawings and custom dimensions. Profiles and cords are available as continuous lengths, by the meter, and in cut lengths. Custom cuts based on CAD contours are available upon request.

Niche materials and special requirements: Procurement upon request

Through our supplier network, we also source, upon request, high-performance elastomers such as FFKM, HNBR, and FEPM (Aflas®) for extreme resistance to media and temperatures, custom cuts based on CAD contours, and products with special certifications for food and drinking water applications in accordance with WRAS, 3-A Sanitary, or ACS. The same applies to flame-retardant, antistatic, or electrically conductive versions, as well as high-temperature materials for applications above 200 °C. If your requirement is not listed on this page, please contact us.

Packaging & Sets

Customers who purchase elastomer semi-finished products based on a bill of materials can also receive them as pre-assembled sets. We put together pre-picked, labeled, and ready-to-install kits and component sets. This reduces the effort required for sorting during production, keeps inventory levels low, and demonstrates how pre-assembly and sets effectively combine procurement and assembly.

One-stop procurement

Elastomers, seals, molded parts, and C-parts can be purchased in a single order from a single point of contact with a single delivery. As a system partner, we handle supplier selection, certificate management, and incoming goods inspection.

FAQ

Does Zilken also supply rubber sheets cut to size?

Yes. We supply rubber sheets and panels in thicknesses ranging from 0.9 to 50 mm as custom-cut pieces based on drawings or specific dimensions. For custom shapes based on CAD files, we source the material through our supplier network upon request.

Which elastomer materials does Zilken carry in its standard product line?

Our standard product line includes NBR, EPDM, FKM/FPM (Viton®), VMQ/MVQ (silicone), SBR, natural rubber, CR (Neoprene®), and FFKM. In addition, HNBR, IIR (butyl), AEM (Vamac®), and FEPM (Aflas®) are available through our network.

Are the elastomers suitable for use with food or drinking water?

Part of our product line is available with FDA approval for food contact or KTW certification for drinking water applications. For applications subject to DVGW requirements, please coordinate your needs directly with us. Additional certifications (WRAS, 3-A Sanitary, ACS) can be provided through our network.

What standards are used to specify the tolerances for elastomers?

By default, dimensional tolerances comply with DIN 7715 and ISO 3302. Hardness testing is performed in accordance with DIN 53505 or ISO 7619. Fluid resistance testing in accordance with ISO 1817 and ozone resistance testing in accordance with ISO 1431 are available upon request with supplier certification.

Can Zilken also provide factory certificates in accordance with EN 10204?

Yes, upon request. We provide 3.1 factory certificates in accordance with EN 10204, provided they are available from the manufacturer. Please specify this in your request.

What is the difference between Elastomer Components Sealing Technology Zilken?

Elastomer Components include semi-finished products, sheets, blanks, profiles, buffers, and molded parts made from elastomer and soft materials.
